Smiddy, as you point out when it comes down to the details it would be a Taliban hell...
Fact is, it's just a dream, the Watchtower "paradise" is just a lure for the gullible to commit their lives to the cult leaders.
most , if not all of jw`s expect it to be paradise ,immediately.. how wrong can they be.. 8 billion + corpses lying around , oh thats right jehovah the magician will fix that with a wave of his wing.. their will not be education above 4th grade as higher education is frowned upon.. women will be restricted to sewing weaving and looking after their husbands needs , and looking after all the children being born to her husband and being in subjection to him.. how many women are in high profile positions in the world today ,including leaders of countries ,and other positions of power and influence ,even in male dominated fields of bygone years .. that will all be gone in the new system ,where women will be put in their place.. children will be forbidden from compettitive sports as thats not permitted anymore , no more tv games ,no more video games , no more just about anything that normal teenagers engage in today.. and no more tv except jw.org tv worldwide with no other channells.
with higher education off the table society is going to slowly sink back to the dark ages and even the stone age.. think about it .
no research in anything , not medical , scientific ,the arts music ,literature ,paintings space ,astronomy etc.etc.,simply because its not necessary now , why ?

The JW religion is a paranoid perversion of truth.............
Wakey wakey Jehovah's Witnesses!
hello all.... i am new here so i figured i'd make a quick post introducing myself and giving a brief intro as to who i am and what i'm here for... as well as to hopefully meet others.. so, i made a profile and in it i gave a pretty detailed explanation as to my intent here and exactly why i decided to participate in the boards.
in case you don't read it, i'll give a brief summary.
the name is robert.
Robrog, thanks for coming here and well done in your desire for searching for what is right . You are twenty six, so you have had time to realize that there is actually more to life than religion.
May I direct you to the possibility that religion is a political scheme of control based on the susceptibility of human nature towards a mystical resolution of all earthly problems.
Have you considered that your introduction reveals that you are prepared to accept as truth only the things you will agree with such as the baseless notion that the Bible is inerrant and inspired by God?
There are more things in heaven and earth, Horatio,
Than are dreamt of in your philosophy.
- Hamlet (1.5.167-8), Hamlet to Horatio
But I wish you well all the same.
"raised in the truth" during the 50s, 60s,and 70s i repeatedly read and heard from the platform how reading the magazines weekly "was the equivalent of a college education" and how many had turned their family economic situation around by being "trustworthy" and giving up expensive bad habits most "worldly people" had.
sounded good.. what is the reality?
how does avoiding higher education, and then spending up to 20 hours a week getting ready for, commuting, and then participating in meetings and field service affect family finances?.
LongHairGal said,
"Many Witnesses fall into the category of those who are just about making ends meet. They are hampered by the fact that they do not have a college degree, which is necessary in today's world".
And it seems this is almost the exemplary form of JW culture; "followers" being forced by their poverty to remain dependent throughout their lives on the very doubtful wisdom and authority of the GB.

The org prefers compliant, uneducated followers since they are easier to hoodwink but not to be overlooked is the mental poverty of being a JW, wasting your life as a guilt ridden, good for nothing slave of the WTBTS.
and it felt wonderful!!.
i went into the city to where i knew there was a "cosmopolitan witnessing" trolley, because i wanted to ask a simple bible-based question.
the trolley was attended by an elder and a sister who was another elder's wife.
Well done Searcher! your witnessing seemed to get the right response which is to break through the JW force field, you got them to think and even change perspective...( perhaps you saw it as witnessing for Jesus and not as unwitnessing?)
A JW is snug and smug in a kind of "locked-in" syndrome. For the individual it is very destabilizing and painful to contemplate opposing the cult teachings, it invites social rejection from community and family since culture conformity is the most powerful drive of human behaviour.
With the decline of d2d preaching, cart witnessing alongside TV evangelism, is the new push and this makes the carts a prime target for us. There used to be a lot in London, but in recent months they have not been present in my neck of the woods to allow me to unwitness there.
Have the GB realized what sitting ducks the cart people are, vulnerable to better informed ex-JWs?
here is something i found interesting:.
biblical scholar claims the story of jesus christ was a hoax designed to control the people.
http://simplecapacity.com/2016/10/biblical-scholar-claims-story-jesus-christ-hoax-designed-control-people/.
Posting attempts at interpretations of scholarly works on this site is fraught with difficulties because here is not the medium for precise thinking, logical examination and supply of textual evidence. We here can casually talk of “a hoax” as we think in our everyday language: yes religion or Jesus is a hoax...and that is the way it is.
But when it comes to trying to verify these thing at a deeper level, unless we have studied the subjects of first century Roman history at least at a masters degree level we are usually floundering (me especially). What is required is a profound knowledge of the whole subject including textual studies and Iron Age and Classical period literature, the power politics of the period, contemporary philosophy and religious beliefs and the very important history of both of them, ethnography and mythology and the social function of myth and even the subject of how we read and interpret the past---in order to be able to give a serious response.
Most of us don’t have the time and having been JWs have missed this opportunity in life to study at that depth. But fear not! Robert M Price, as Mephis directs us, has most of these requirements under his belt so to speak. What Price is debunking is the trope of Atwill describing all the known stories of the NT as a furtive joke, a nod to those in the know and a put-down of resurgent Jewish opposition to Rome for the sake of political compliance.
I usually find academics tied to religious institutions suspect in their allegiances and find Price reverent of the Bible text but not of the traditions of Christianity. However he does not think there is sufficient evidence to say that Jesus was a real person and finds a mythicist explanation for his presence in the gospels.
Atwill said that Jesus is, “the only fictional character in literature whose entire life story can be traced to other sources”. I agree with him and probably so would Robert M Price.
well how's it going round your way?
massive increase of interested ones?
did you even know it was supposed to be happening?
JW:
Come to our special meeting and be converted to a pathetic cult full of religious zombies who have given up thinking for themselves. But if you don't convert to our religion, then Big J will kill you and feed your corpse to the dickie birds at Armageddon.
Interested person:
What a lovely message, I would love to come!
according to this publication published by none other than those who want to gain followers of themselves, christ assigned the preaching work to themselves and not jehovah's witnesses.. *** w07 4/1 pp.
24-25 loyal to christ and his faithful slave ***.
giving loyal support.
They permanently trawl the scriptures to justify their role as world religious supremos. (God only loves the Watchtower Bible and Tract Society and loathes the rest of mankind!)
Your quote is very apt Somebody "They will walk behind you in chains". The Bible recognizes slavery and so does the WTBTS.
Mann377 it's all about power and money, holding onto the reins of power, controlling the corporate bank accounts and the minds of eight million drones. And lo! the sacred words of the inerrant Bible with its mass of subject matter to cherry pick.
Wake up Watchtower can't you see how you look; a bunch of paranoid religious loonies.
in their sick and twisted bubble that they live in, the jehovahs witnesses clearly have no idea about the logistical nightmare of disposing of 7.5 billion corpses.. when i heard an elder once say that it will be a joy to clear away the wicked from the earth, he actually had a smile on his face.. can they even begin to imagine what 7.5 billion dead men, women, children & babies looks like?.
"let the eye feel no sorrow".
sick bastards..
You make a good point Tor, all people, usually in late childhood come to realize that invisible germs are out to get you and perhaps JWs are institutionally snagged at this moment of development.
It is at an age when dependency on parents and authority figures remain in place and to the susceptible mind, learning about germs can be linked to an exaggerated sense of contamination. This notion of contamination has many religious manifestations (look at the absurdities of the Mosaic law). JWs are constantly exhorted by their task masters to stick together because of this same drive of fearful contamination of "the world".
No doubt to the JW mindset the idea of global "cleansing" of non believers seems the right answer to the contamination issue......forget that they are talking about the precious lives of 7.5 billion sentient, loving humans, who are reduced by JW thinking to mere dirty scum.
